Do you have experience in Civil Engineering and open to a change in career?

Do you have a UK driving license and live in Hull, Leeds, York or Sheffield?

We’re excited to share that we are supporting the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to recruit two new roles. One part time and one full time.

As Membership Development Officer you will provide support, advice and training to potential and existing members and promote Civil Engineering qualifications across the North-East and Yorkshire & Humber region.

Engaging with a broad range of stakeholders from engineering to Higher and Further Education establishments to maximise their potential.

This role also encompasses the promotion of Civil Engineering through Media activities and works closely with regional government to influence the infrastructure agenda.

Based from home, you can expect to be on the road attending meetings 2-3 days per week.

On any given week you can expect to be involved in the following duties:

  • Advise school children and students on careers in civil engineering and relevant academic qualifications.
  • Advise FE and HE students on membership and careers available.
  • Engage with current members in response to enquiries ensuring they have access to the information.
  • Provide advice to Supervising Civil Engineers(SCE), Delegated Engineers and trainees to improve training effectiveness.
  • Assess company applications to become approved employers to ensure that they meet ICE requirements.
  • Monitor Company Approved Training Schemes (CATS) to ensure employer compliance with ICE expectations.
  • Appraise trainee progress to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of their learning.
  • Review Career Appraisal applications with SCEs to assess the demonstration of achievement of Development Objectives and CPD by potential members.

This really is a varied role... you’ll be engaging with young people one day and assessing if organisations are compliant the next.

We believe the key here is your ability to get excited about Civil Engineering with an aptitude to learn about the profession. A background in teaching, training education compliance or assessment.

If this appeals to you please get in touch asap and we can discuss the next steps.
