We are seeking a talented and dynamic individual who shares our passion for our business to intern with our Menswear Design team. This internship offers a comprehensive understanding of the daily operations within a Design department. As a crucial member of our company, you will assist with research, design, and development for the Paul Smith and PS by Paul Smith collections. Additionally, you will perform general Design Studio and administrative tasks to help maintain the department's smooth operation. This is a paid, full time position, working 37.5 hours per week for approximately 6 months. Please note, this role requires that you submit a link to a portfolio containing Menswear work examples. This should be available for a minimum of 4 weeks after the advert closing date. The Role - Assist and collaborate with all design studio members on various tasks, such as creating mood boards, colour boards, colour cards, conducting research, organizing the studio space, and sourcing art supplies. - Support the sewing of trials and new development samples, creating maquettes, and draping on the stand. - Develop colourway options, print placements, and fabric embellishments using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. - Amend and update sketches and fitting images with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as needed. - Maintain physical design boards (style, fabric, color, research) by working closely with the team, ensuring boards are photographed, copied, distributed, and archived. - Update digital design boards in Adobe InDesign as necessary. Your Skills and Experience - High level of computer literacy in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office. - Strong technical CADs and colour up CADS, as well as quality hand drawn skills. - Knowledge of fashion design processes, fabric bases and colour with familiarity in creating design boards. - Understanding of seasons and able to work to strict deadlines. - Basic machine and hand dewing skills. Who you are - We love interns who are eager to learn and have an abundance of creative flair! - A team player able to build strong working relationships and work using your own initiative when necessary. - Well organised with great prioritising skills. - An excellent communicator, written and verbal. - Be self-motivated, passion and able to remain focused under pressure. - Able to assess colour and maintain current knowledge of fashion design processes, fabric bases, proportion and trends.
