I'm currently working in partnership with a leading facilities management and service provider with the crucial hire of an experienced Minor Works Estimator into their Defence division for a UK military base in the Falklands, South Atlantic.

Minor Works Estimator
£40,000 - £50,000 TAX FREE salary, free accommodation, bonus, full benefits listed below
Location: Falkland Islands, South Atlantic

Main Duties

  • Evaluate and clearly understand the details and requirements for each estimate, attend site visits and undertake site measurements
  • Estimate the costs based on Schedule of Rates using the basic scope of works, requirements documents and site measurements for new and remedial works.
  • Obtain sub-contractor and materials costs and evaluate the prices, negotiating with sub-contractors as required to provide meaningful costs in the agreed timeframe.
  • Manage own workload while meeting KPIs to submit prices to client in accordance with contract timescales.
  • Through continual review of the tender document, be responsible for any changes from the original specification including preliminary pricings, time scales and any other changes as requested.
  • Assist in producing scope of works for minor works and project administration.
  • Liaising with supervisors and their teams and handover of agreed prices to the delivery team on approval.
  • Keep up to date with all estimating packages including templates, tender logs etc.
  • Keep up to date with the latest estimator techniques and procedures.


Key

  • Hold a construction, building services or hard FM background
  • Have excellent attention to detail and possess excellent analytical skills
  • Great communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical but with the ability to think beyond or around a process
  • Ability to quickly assess the requirement, and then change dependent on new information
  • Excellent IT skills including Word and Excel
  • Good time management and organisational skills are essential
  • Able to follow key management processes
