We are looking to recruit a Monitoring and Enforcement Officer who will be responsible for planning enforcement work investigating and monitoring alleged breaches of planning legislation relating to a variety of sites. In addition, the role will include responsibility for proactive condition monitoring of general Development Management sites as well as fee and non-fee Minerals and Waste sites. You will need to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, host authorities as well as complainants, applicants, professional agents, solicitors and the wider community as part of providing an efficient and responsive customer focussed service.
The role involves communication in difficult circumstances, often with challenging or distressed people, and you will need to remain alert to risk at all times as well as being able to deal with situations in a non-confrontational manner.
Minerals and Waste and Major Development sites often have long and complex histories, and attention to detail is vital when monitoring compliance. You will need to be competent in managing challenging and balance competing deadlines. You will be required on occasion, to appear as a witness on the National Park Authority’s behalf at appeals and in Court. You will also be required to undertake a moderate planning caseload.
