Summary of Role:

  • Ensure shortage reporting is actioned and communicated by the departments in a timely and accurate manner, rectifying any shortages possible throughout the night shift, focusing where required on equipment returning from hire throughout the night.
  • Ensure daily priority of work is completed and set out the following day’s priority list for early shifts to start working on immediately, proactively driving pace of work across the departments.
  • Ensure, as a minimum, the first 3 priorities for each department of each day are distributed the night before and every department can commence with them immediately on starting on the early shift.
  • Focus your team on zero shortages for each Job/Job Part/order supplied to every customer.
  • Improve loading performance/quality across the Shift and to remove potential/all loading errors.
  • Improve and then maintain the accuracy of our scanning and stock control performance.
  • Demonstrating a positive approach to the company whilst reacting to the high demands of the business.
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet strict deadlines whilst adhering to the priorities of the business.
  • Originating and contributing to documentation for training purposes, to include procedures and competency skillsets.
  • Ensure that all returns department processes are adhered to at all times. With special attention to double scanning processes and minimising scanning error.
  • To always make sure all equipment arriving at the building which is required for an immediate turnaround, such as sub hires, repairs, shortages, or new stock is communicated to all teams and the process is completed to reach its required destination.

    First Line Management of Night Shift staff:

  • Leading by example, positively drive an ethos of teamwork and support across the departmental teams.
  • First line management of the Equipment Supervisors and Equipment Technicians within the departments to also include agency staff, lighting technicians and trainees.
  • Ensuring there is always appropriate cover across the shift and that those providing the cover are suitably trained.
  • To lead by example and set a high standard of professionalism with time keeping, starting at the place of work for shifts and completion of tasks.
  • Complete return-to-work interviews and absent management procedures.
  • Manage holiday requests for the night shift to ensure adequate staffing across the department is maintained at all times.
  • Monitor departmental staff overtime availability logging to ensure consistent pool of resource for additional working requirements.
  • Complete regular 1-2-1 meetings with Equipment Technicians, ensuring constructive feedback is provided and personal development plans are agreed and actioned.
  • To challenge and correct breaches of conduct and areas of concern, completing thorough and impartial investigations where required.
  • To ensure all staff are fully trained to fulfil all roles within the department and to continuously review all existing team member’s competences and where required, retrain to ensure correct use of systems, correct handling of equipment, correct storage of equipment and understanding of all relevant procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Operations, to highlight individuals for potential areas of upskilling within the department and across other areas of the business.
  • Hold weekly toolbox talks with the department to ensure relevant documentation/record of those are kept on file.
  • Leading by example, ensure allocated breaks are adhered to at all times, taking appropriate action where breaches are identified and escalating to the Head of Operations persistent offenders.

    ?Asset Management & Storage:

  • Ensure departmental returns areas are controlled effectively by the Department to ensure smooth flow of equipment around the departments, ensuring the shelves are fully restocked for the next day’s shift.
  • In conjunction with the Equipment Manager, liaising with the returns team and Department Supervisors to ensure bottlenecks and overflow of returning stock is processed and tracked accurately on RTPro.
  • Ensure any highlighted inventory anomalies are resolved and/or thoroughly investigated at the departmental level, escalating any continued anomalies to the Equipment Manager.
  • In conjunction with the Equipment Manager, looking for continual improvement in terms of departmental changes and storage solutions for the equipment.
  • In conjunction with the Equipment Manager, to assist the Equipment Supervisors to continuously develop the storage solutions to improve asset management and controls.

Quality Control:

  • To ensure all non-coded equipment is taken out of service to be coded in conjunction with the inventory team’s availability to do so.
  • To meet the highest standards of customer service levels when it comes to presentation of equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment sent out down for despatch has been quality checked to the required standard.
  • To complete and ensure all company procedures when put in place are followed when it comes to additional QC checks and double scanning procedures.

    Essential Skills:

  • First line management skills, including personnel management, conflict resolution, effective communications & training/development experience.
  • Must be IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft office software.
  • Good understanding of operating systems such as RT Pro inventory tracking system, Microsoft Teams.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment with the highest expectations of service and quality.
  • Committed to continual improvement and development.
  • Flexible to work overtime and occasional weekends as the needs to the business require.
