Responsible to: Head of Central Services

Job Purpose:

  • Coordinate volunteer recruitments and provide enriching learning activities.
  • Offer volunteer management advice and guidance to staff working with volunteers.
  • Establish positive relationships with volunteers for a fulfilling experience.
  • Manage the volunteer database, ensuring it is current and meets organizational needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive the strategic goal of fostering a culture of voluntary action, aiming to empower at least 300 volunteers annually by 2027.
  • Lead recruitment and induction of volunteers, developing annual timelines for volunteer recruitment.
  • Handle recruitment administration, including pre-employment checks, induction courses, and onboarding.
  • Advise service managers on the suitability of potential volunteer roles.
  • Administer the volunteer database efficiently, keeping all records up-to-date.
  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers, resolving issues, and escalating IT concerns as needed.
  • Support line managers in ensuring volunteers adhere to policies, procedures, and values.
  • Analyze volunteer metrics and provide reports on their contributions and impact.
  • Ensure volunteers receive adequate training, resources, and support, including reward and recognition activities to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Promote volunteering internally through engagement activities and externally via recruitment drives and marketing campaigns.
  • Provide analytics on volunteer engagement and facilitate peer group sessions for progress monitoring.
  • Identify and manage the development and delivery of training, rewards, and recognition activities to upskill and retain volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Central Services to develop the volunteering program and ensure alignment with values.
  • Assist in preparing reports for the Senior Leadership Team and maintaining up-to-date volunteer policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to HR projects that develop HR practices and maintain volunteer data in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
