We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a Manchester Further Education College, starting this September. This role is pivotal in driving the inclusive strategy across the college and ensuring effective collaboration and shared planning.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide innovative and high-quality support for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and High Needs.
  • Foster independence, achievement, and progression for learners.
  • Implement the Person-Centred Review process, collaborating with learners, parent/carers, curriculum teams, and external agencies.
  • Maintain close liaison with schools and external agencies to assess the needs of potential new learners and plan transition routes.
  • Develop and set SMART targets with learners, track progress, and ensure quality support.
  • Provide mentoring and timely feedback to Learning Support Assistants, ensuring meeting objectives and performance improvement.
  • Be a key advisor for potential new learners with SEND, EHCPs, and complex high needs.
  • Support learners progressing to higher education programs and guide them through the application process for Disabled Student Allowance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or related field.
  • Experience working with learners with SEND, EHCPs, and High Needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
