£40,000 - £45,000 | Central London - full time onsite

We have been mandated by one of our clients to find an Operations Manager who will be responsible for managing the back office and reconciliation activities for this financial services company. Essentially our client seeks someone who is an experienced manager of people, who knows how to set up payments, undertake manual reconciliation activities, and check accounts.

Please note this role will be fully office based, onsite with our client in Central London five days a week.

The successful candidate will

As Operations Manager you’ll be undertaking a varied hands -on back-office role, combining the management and leadership of a small team with undertaking settlements, payments, and reconciliations activities. You’ll be joining a relatively small, fast-paced team, where you’ll need to be able to effectively prioritise your workload and manage the team. You can also expect your responsibilities to include:

  • Check and maintain client and company accounts.
  • Check funds coming in from clients.
  • Set up, authorise, and make payments (currently this is a manual process).
  • Ensure source of funds have been approved by compliance.
  • Chase for funds not received from the client and keep track of debts.
  • Reconcile client and company accounts on Xero and appropriate internal spreadsheets.
  • Update and maintain appropriate internal reports.
  • Obtaining copies of SWIFT messages for both incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Control and reconciliation of returned currency from broker.
  • Updating Xero and in-house online trade platform.
  • Obtaining client payment details and adding them to the in-house trade platform.
  • Check broker recaps.
  • Ad hoc duties as relating to the management of the department.

Our client is looking for

  • Good knowledge of Excel.
  • Accounts knowledge would prove advantageous.
  • Proven team management and leadership.
  • Proven experience of undertaking back-office reconciliations, which are primarily manual processes.
  • Ability to set up payments manually.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work to tight deadlines and able to cope under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
