Your new role
This role facilitates the delivery of the Disposal Strategy through reactive and proactive option appraisals to ensure our homes prioritise the health and wellbeing of our residents. The role will lead the Option Appraisal Panel and present the findings and outcome of the option appraisals carried out those homes brought forward for consideration, complete the scoring matrix on behalf of the panel and make the final recommendation to the Executive.
You will be tasked with identifying void homes/stock which are no longer fit for purpose for residents. Experienced Building Surveyors who have experience in working on Voids, Repairs or Strategic Asset Management, this role could be a fantastic new challenge.

What you'll need to succeed
Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate delivery of the Disposal Strategy through reactive option appraisals of void homes that no longer make a positive contribution to the organisation and are not of a quality we want for our residents.
  • Leading the Option Appraisal Panel and present the findings and outcome of the option appraisals.
  • Provide accurate analysis and specification of works and costs to provide detailed evidence for the Option Appraisal report.
  • Be able to interrogate systems data to provide historic repairs information for the Option Appraisal Report and use building pathology to interpret future investment requirements, including zero carbon investment needs.
  • Work closely with teams in the Homes Directorate to understand challenging archetypes and, where appropriate seek solutions to overcome these with investment colleagues or bring them forward for option appraisal consideration.
  • Lead on complex works for the directorate including but not limited to remodelling works, structural works, insurance works,
  • Respond to queries from tenants, leaseholders, internal and external clients within prescribed time scales.

Further requirements to successfully complete this role are,

  • Have a degree, HNC, HND or BTEC in a building discipline or relevant experience and training.
  • Have experience working within social housing or residential property as a surveyor previously.
  • Have a good understanding of building and housing regulations
  • Understand the importance of a landlord obligation for statutory repair, maintenance and health and safety.
