Reed Scientific have an exciting opportunity for an Organic Chemist to join our client's Synthesis Laboratory. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in organic synthesis and a passion for research and development. The successful candidate will report directly to the Lead Chemist and will be involved in executing planned projects, process scale-up, and providing support for manufacturing operations. They provide annual reviews with plenty of opportunities for training and progression.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Execute planned projects within the R&D programme, setting timelines, delivering, and reporting results in a timely manner.
  • Assist in process scale-up and transfer from R&D to manufacturing operations, both internal and external.
  • Develop and evaluate new synthetic chemistry procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct routine analytical tests and provide support for internal and external manufacturing operations.
  • Liaise with other functions as required and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Administer samples, pack and dispatch samples, and manage waste disposal.
  • Work safely by using and understanding existing COSHH and risk assessments and writing new ones as needed.
  • Follow quality procedures, safety procedures, and SOPs, and be fully committed to the quality system along with the safety and regulatory requirements of the business.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Educated to degree level in Chemistry, Science, Materials, or a related field 
  • A minimum of 2 years industry experience 
  • Experience in Organic Synthesis.
  • Working knowledge of organic chemistry.
  • Experience in photochemistry is ideal but not essential.
  • Ability to meet and interact confidently with internal departments and represent the company professionally
  • Driving licence and access to a car is essential due to location
