Paralegal - Family Law | Up to £25k | Derbyshire
Full time 9-5pm

We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal with experience of Family Law to join a respected and growing law firm based in Derbyshire. The successful candidate will responsible for all administration and some Fee Earning work under the direct supervision of a designated Fee Earner. You will also provide a total support service to the Family Fee Earners to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency, including but not limited to the main responsibilities given below. The family paralegal is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative and be able to carry out supervised Fee Earning work as appropriate

What we're looking for:

A relevant qualification or experience
- To undertake any specific training when required to do so and take responsibility for own self-development
- To ensure the confidentiality of all practice and client documentation and information
- Promote the practice when and where possible
- Maintain professional standards at all times
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may be required by the partner

The finer elements of the role include:

- Prepare correspondence and documents using audio typing, word processing or digital dictation methods
Assist with casework, preparing reports, bundles and documentation
Attend meetings with clients, taking instructions and preparing cases and to draft court documentation
Attend meetings with Cafcass, guardians and other professionals as required
To manage the workload as directed in the Fee Earner’s absence
To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up-to-date diary for the fee earner
Liaise with other solicitors, court staff and barristers
To establish a good working relationship with all Fee Earners within the family team
Attend court as requested, to support client or to take notes behind counsel
Attend meetings at local social care offices including but not limited to PLO meetings, advocates meetings and child protection conferences
To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such communication in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the practice’s standards for client care.
Maintaining and updating the case management system in a timely and efficient manner ensuring all time recording is completed
Gain a thorough working knowledge of the Legal Aid system including how to set up new clients on the portal and updating the correct information ensuring the firm receives correct payments in full as speedily as possible
