An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a well established practice based in the Southend area.

They have been delivering outstanding accountancy, tax and bookkeeping services to a diverse range of clients for 40 years.

As a Part Time Bookkeeper, our client will offer:

Permanent, part-time
Salary DOE
20 hours per week - flexible, to be agreed
Working days Monday to Friday

They are looking for a Bookkeeper with the following:

  • Sound understanding of double entry bookkeeping
  • An understanding of record keeping for a range of business types and sizes
  • A high level of experience with Xero, QuickBooks and Sage accounting software
  • Knowledge in the UK tax systems (PAYE, VAT, Construction Industry Scheme)
  • Knowledge of workplace pensions, Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) etc
  • Experience in processing payroll on a variety of programmes including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Moneysoft Payroll Manager and Brightpay
  • Experience in preparing P11D’s
  • A high level of experience with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • General office skills

As a Bookkeeper you will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with clients to gather information and records
  • Processing payments, receipts, invoices, journal entries and entering data into accounting software or databases
  • Maintaining electronic record keeping
  • Preparing and filing of VAT returns
  • Preparing and filing of PAYE wages
  • Preparing and filing of P11D’s
  • Preparing and filing of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns
  • Maintaining and filing pension schemes.
  • Periodic accuracy checks and reconciliations
  • Preparation of management reports for clients
  • Liaising with the accounts team when preparing yearly account
  • Managing and maintaining trackers

Please note that all candidates must be prepared to undertake a 30 minute computer based assessment.
