Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively partnering with a leading and well-established manufacturing group to recruit an experienced and hands-on part-time Payroll Officer based in their Gloucester, Gloucestershire office. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, offering flexible hours between 20 - 30 per week on a permanent basis. This position will take sole charge of all payroll processes for the business and will be tailored around the right payroll professional. Open to payroll professionals from industry or practice with flexible working hours.

Your new role

Key duties will involve start to finish payroll processing of circa 200 employees using Sage over multiple sites within the group. You will be involved in pension checking and related processes, working out SSP, Maternity, Paternity, and Company Sickness for employees. Setting/processing new starters and leavers with related documentation, running payslips and updating the payroll portal with up-to-date payroll data. Producing payroll journals, auto-enrolment, and pension processes, along with related HMRC duties. You will keep updated on overtime payroll payments, holiday pay, automatic tax codes, ad-hoc payroll reporting, and support the production of P11D's yearly. You will take the lead on payroll related queries. A great opportunity that will be tailored around the right payroll professional, where you can really make the role your own.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this hands-on part-time payroll position, you will need experience within a similar role, up to-date knowledge of payroll legalisation and processes, with a positive can-do attitude. You will be used to managing workloads and meeting deadlines, comfortable using MS Excel and finance/payroll systems, along with key communication skills to partner internally and externally at all levels. You will be a keen problem solver with analytical skills and be adaptable to business needs. It would be advantageous but not essential if you have worked as a sole payroll professional for a business with Sage payroll experience within the manufacturing sector.

What you'll get in return

This permanent part-time payroll position offers a salary between £30,000 - £38,000 per annum (pro rata) dependable on experience, based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. Hours between 20 - 30 per week, based on candidate preference. Benefits include medical cover, contributed pension scheme, flexible start/finish times, early finish on Fridays, 25 days' holiday plus bank, and further group benefits.
