Part Time Skills for Life Tutor

Location: Doncaster

Salary:£14,526.72 per annum

Hours: 16 hours per week (2/3 days TBC)

As one of only two specialist horse racing colleges in the UK, this third sector provider delivers training for people in both racing and other equine industries. Located in the scenic grounds of a private estate near Doncaster, it achieved Ofsted Grade 2 for overall effectiveness and Grade 1 for both Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development in December 2022.

The Role

The post holder will undertake assigned duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently, ensuring that all actions are discharged within the regulatory and legislative requirements to which the College is subject, and:

  • With full regard for National Horseracing College’s equality and diversity, health and safety and safeguarding children and young people, prevent duty and British values requirements.
  • To achieve individual and team targets assigned through the College’s annual planning and staff appraisal processes.
  • Subject to the Trust’s approved strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Any breach of confidentiality in relation to the sensitive information of college staff or learners, is considered a dismissible offence.
  • Motivate and inspire learners, help improve their confidence, self-esteem and resilience

Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications and Training:

  • Level 3, A Level or equivalent Subject Specialism in Literacy
  • Level 2, GCSE, or equivalent Subject Specialism in Numeracy
  • Teaching Qualification - minimum Certificate of Education
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Educational Degree
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
  • Relevant ICT
  • Driving Licence

Experience:

  • Experience of teaching, or supporting teaching and learning of Functional Skills English and Mathematics at Entry level to level 2
  • Experience of teaching GCSE
  • Experience of assessment methods
  • Experience of teaching, or supporting teaching and learning in a variety of different settings, including the workplace
  • Experience of teaching life skills subjects
