CuthbertColvill are working with a Trust central team who are based near to Swindon.

They are looking for someone to join them to cover maternity leave. This role is for a Payroll Officer who will be responsible for managing the monthly payroll activities and ensuring that accurate data is provided to third party payroll provider.

This role would suit someone who has experience of education pay & conditions.

Key Accountabilities:

Recording payroll data in the Trust’s Access system.

Maintains payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating and inputting data.

Calculating overtime, salary increases and other payroll changes when managers or employees request this.

Answering and resolving payroll enquiries quickly and efficiently via email and telephone.

Monthly checking of payroll for all schools in Trust.

Providing reports for schools to check monthly payroll.

Producing reports for schools on an adhoc basis.

Sending out P45s and P60s.

Adheres to payroll policies and procedures and complies with relevant laws.

Identifies, investigates and resolves discrepancies in timesheet and payroll records.

Maintaining compliant policies and procedures.

Ensuring BACS payments are signed off and sent on schedule with Finance and HR Director.

Calculating adjustments for new starters, leavers and job changes making sure the details entered are input correctly.

Liaising with payroll contact to help calculate overpayments and underpayments for staff.

Producing maternity schedules for employees, calculating the payments each month along with SMP.

Calculating SSP and occupational sick pay.

Processing pension opt outs/opt ins and retirement paperwork.

Mis data management.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Payroll experience

Payroll qualification or working towards

Thorough attention to details

Familiarity with payroll software

Ability to work independently

Excellent calculation skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Work to tight deadlines

ALT Safeguarding and Data Protection training (willingness to complete)
