Payroll Specialist - Manchester - £45,000 3 Month contract, potential to go Permanent

Our client based in Manchester are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join them initially for 3 months. This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial compliance, managing cash flow and overseeing payroll operations.

As Payroll Specialist you will be collaborating with senior management optimize, mitigate risks, cash flow and ensure all returns are filed timely and accurately.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, adhering to HMRC Deadlines and regulations
  • Verify time and attendance records, including overtime, leave, and deductions.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee base, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and company policies
  • Manage PAYE reporting and ensure accurate employee tax deductions, utilising external payroll bureau
  • Monitor and Implement changes in legislation and fiscal regulations
  • Oversee daily cash flow activities, which includes forecasting, monitoring receipts and payments
  • Calculate and process payroll adjustments, such as bonuses, commissions, and statutory payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
  • Manage invoice discounting facility as a funding source, optimizing terms and utilization
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on financial performance, cash flow and compliance metrics
  • In-depth understanding of payroll processes, taxation, and employment legislation.

Role Requirements

  • At least 3 years of post qualification experience in a finance manager role
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in using a payroll system
  • CIMA, ACCA or Equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Strong understanding of VAT, PAYE, Corporation tax and other UK tax regulations
  • Proven track record of managing compliance, payroll functions and treasury within Industrial
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
