Personal Development Lead
  • Location: Southampton
  • Job Type: Full-time, term time Monday to Friday
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Personal Development Lead to join our dedicated team at a SEN provision catering to pupils with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This key role is integral to enhancing our qualitative whole school provision, focusing on Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, life skills, and careers guidance for pupils from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Design, adapt, and review a holistic and engaging curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our pupils.
  • Deliver high-quality, interactive, and stimulating lessons fostering the development of essential life skills and personal health and social awareness.
  • Provide personalised interventions around PSHE/Life Skills development to address and enhance pupils’ learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching and Tutor staff teams to integrate pupils’ personalised developmental goals into the broader curriculum.
  • Develop assessment strategies to evaluate, evidence, and report on pupil progress within Personal Development.
  • Foster strong, positive, and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
  • Stay updated on innovative and outstanding practices across PSHE and personal development education.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures, especially regarding pupil welfare.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in planning and delivering PSHE curriculum, life skills, and careers education.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs (SEN) advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of child development, behaviour management, and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
