Job Title: Planning Officer (Temporary Contract)

Our client, a reputable organisation in the Stockport area, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Planning Officer to join their dynamic team. This is a temporary position with a rewarding hourly rate of £20 - £24.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Planning Officer, you will be responsible for managing and prioritising a development management caseload. Your main duties will include:

1. Processing development applications in compliance with legislative requirements and organisational policies.

2. Carrying out consultations and notifications in relation to development applications.

3. Ensuring accurate record-keeping and data management in the planning database.

4. Conducting site inspections and providing reports and recommendations on each application.

5. Offering guidance and support to administrative and technical staff.

6. Assisting the enforcement officer with complaints and breaches of planning control.

7. Providing planning evidence and statements for appeals and court appearances.

8. Collaborating with other officers and organisations to process and determine development control enquiries.

9. Contributing to the preparation of policies and guidance notes.

10. Attending relevant committee meetings to provide advice and recommendations.

11. Maintaining professional competence in the field of Town Planning.

12. Promoting a positive and inclusive working environment.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

1. A degree in Town Planning or equivalent, with a postgraduate planning qualification.

2. Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or working towards it).

3. Experience in handling various types of planning applications.

4. The ability to manage conflicting demands and work under pressure.

5. Strong presentation skills (desirable).

6. Proficiency in planning application databases.

7. Familiarity with political issues in the context of development management.

8. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Outlook.

9. Effective report-writing skills.

10. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.

11. The ability to interpret plans, drawings, and reports submitted with planning applications.

12. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

13. Experience in collaborative work.

14. A valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
