Job Advert: Plater/Welder (Rail Engineering - Freight Locomotives)
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00PM - 4:00PM
Salary: Competitive, plus benefits (33 days holiday, pension, healthcare)

We are currently seeking experienced Plater/Welders to join our team for an ongoing project within the Rail Engineering sector. This role involves welding and repairing crash damage and corrosion on freight locomotives, focusing on the repair and overhaul of rolling stock sections.

Key Responsibilities:
* Cutting out, grinding, and stripping corroded material.
* Refitting and joining new sections using MIG welding (3mm to 30mm mild steel).
* Welding in various positions, including Vertical Up and Overhead.
* Supporting production and repair of passenger carriages and rolling stock.
* Replacing solebars, internal supporting columns, and floor refurbishments.

Candidate Requirements:
MIG Welding experience - particularly in Vertical Up & Overhead positions.
Proven experience working with mild steel (3mm - 30mm).
NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication/Welding (or equivalent).
Own tools and PPE, including air-fed mask, fireproof overalls, and grinder.
Background in Plant/Equipment repair, Quarry, or Heavy Machine refurbishment is advantageous.

Weld Test:
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a weld test as part of the selection process.
