Join our dedicated Maintenance Unit within a prestigious educational institution, where your expertise in plumbing and mechanical maintenance will contribute to the seamless operation of our facilities. This role is not just about fixing pipes; it’s about ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff and students alike.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Carry out routine and reactive plumbing tasks, ensuring facilities are operational for staff.
  • Repair and upgrade toilets, basins, showers, and complete pipework repairs for hot and cold water systems, as well as small scale heating services.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the Maintenance Unit workshop and building plant rooms.
  • Work individually or as part of a team, and occasionally supervise an apprentice or assistant.
  • Collaborate with specialist contractors in the repair and refurbishment of building services.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Recognised trade apprenticeship or equivalent in plumbing and heating.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating (or approved equivalent).
  • Experience in mechanical building services within a commercial setting.
  • Proficiency in using workshop machinery, power, and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of modern and traditional piping systems and repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and identify replacement parts.
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
