We are currently recruiting for Police Staff Investigators based in various Locations across London

Pay rate: £37k

Contract duration: FTC 2 years

Must have a minimum of PIP2 accredited.

Purpose:

To support detectives investigating offences within the Public Protection portfolio. This will include serious and complex investigations of rape, serious sexual assault, child abuse and domestic abuse.

Duties:

The role holder will carry out the following functions and responsibilities:

Progress established criminal investigations including:

• Taking written statements and video recorded evidence from victims and witnesses of crime, this will involve gathering relevant information by interviewing the person.

• Assisting in the preparation and interviewing of suspects.

• Ensuring vulnerability is identified in persons involved in investigations and ensure the appropriate support is provided, including regular updates as to the ongoing progression of investigation.

• Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Children and Adult’s Social Care, health and education, as appropriate.

• Assisting in the gathering of evidence by reviewing and collating documentary evidence relating to the investigation, including third party material.

• Completing applications for examinations of digital media and forensic submissions.
• Preparing and presenting evidence for court proceedings in Magistrates and Crown Court.

• Using internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.

• Carrying out further enquiries in relation to investigations at the request of the Supervising Officer(s).

• To work as required on the direction of the BCU Public Protection Superintendent or their delegate

Please note you will need to undergo OST/ELS training

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience & Working Knowledge Using NICHE.
  • Ability to prioritise in line with risk, harm, threat, and vulnerability.
  • Proven commitment to providing a high level of service to victims of crime.
  • Proven ability to supervise crimes within the remit of this team, including case file supervision and ERO function.
  • Demonstrable skills in managing own workload and working with minimal supervision.
  • A good understanding of Disclosure and management of third-party material in case preparation.
