Porter Driver

The Wellington Hospital, London

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Sunday, shifts between the hours of 6.30AM - 8PM

Permanent

As the Porter you will provide a portering services to all patients, consultants and visitors to the hospital as required. This will include taking patients and visitors to their rooms, transferring patients between hospital departments, delivery of mail, equipment and materials and ensuring the safety and security of everyone within our hospital.

What you'll do:

  • Providing a proactive, friendly and welcoming service to all patients, visitors and third parties.
  • Meet and greet patients on admission, escort them to their room and show them their room facilities.
  • Transportation of patients, colleagues and equipment between the hospital sites with the patient shuttle and "Luton Van"
  • Daily safety inspection and ownership of vehicle maintenance and cleanliness
  • Maintain vehicle documentation relating to inspections, servicing, fuel etc.
  • Providing a proactive, friendly and welcoming service to all patients, visitors and third parties.
  • Meet & greet patients on admission. Escort them to their room and show them their room facilities
  • Security role – screening and challenging any suspicious individuals (Security guard on site)
  • A part of the cardiac & fire response team
  • Waste duties – Collection of clinical & recycling waste daily
  • Mail duties – franking outgoing mail, distribution of incoming mail and courier post
  • Office moves – furniture and equipment around hospital and between sites
  • Out of hours – responsible for changing of medical gas cylinders

What you'll bring:

  • FULL CLEAN UK DRIVERS LICENCE IS ESSENTIAL
  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy items when required
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential
  • Excellent communication and customer skills
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
