Role: Pre-Press Operator

Location: Bedford, MK41 0EP

Hours: 8:00-16:00 (occasional overtime may be required)

Salary: £13ph

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Pre-Press Operator to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for pre-flighting, troubleshooting, adjusting client files, and preparing both PDF proofs and print-ready files.

Who we are:- We publish and produce a wide range of greeting cards including our new "Eco-Logical" range manufactured using 100% recycled packaging waste and envelopes that are fully marine-bio degradable and compostable!  Printed products include brochures, inserts, direct-mail as well as corrugated displays and packaging products,  large-format boards, bespoke banners, carton engineering and production etc.

What we would like from you:

  • Previous experience as a Pre-Press Operator or similar role.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Familiarity with rip software; experience with Fuji XMF is advantageous.
  • Understanding of print processes and colour management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Check customer supplied files at the start of each job, comparing them to the supplied hard copy for differences and size conformity.
  • Ensure job instructions align with artwork supplied and/or referenced.
  • Save all artworks in designated file locations on the server with appropriate document control file naming specifications.
  • Manipulate files to match customer specs and output proofs for internal checks and customer review/approval requirements.
  • Understand artwork creation processes to address problems early in the job process.
  • Possess a sound knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop & Pitstop.
  • Have some knowledge and experience in rip software. (Fuji XMF experience advantageous but not essential)
  • Understand print processes and how one colour affects another.
  • Run litho plates using CTP upon artwork approval and conduct final checks before going to press.
  • Demonstrate excellent team-player mentality and work ethic with a flexible attitude towards overtime.
