Whilst working as a Supply Teacher through Reed, you will be supporting in some of the largest and most forward-thinking schools in the north Kent areas. Reed is an established partner of many schools, where we supply fully vetted and experience teachers on a short-term basis.

In your role as a supply teacher, you will be presented with work that the usual class teacher has prepared for you, and it is your responsibility to go through the lesson plan to the best of your ability to avoid the students missing out on their learning, whilst ensuring consistency in the classroom. All of the resources, worksheets, presentations and lesson plans will have been provided before-hand, and there is no expectation for you to complete marking after the lesson has been completed. You will be asked to provide feedback on the lesson and to report any concerns to the teacher or school cover manager, but you are free to leave at 3.30pm at the end of the school day. There is also no expectation for you to have a comprehensive knowledge of all subjects covered in the National Curriculum or know everything about each subject. As long as you are able to follow the provided lesson plan and manage the classroom then this role will work for you.

Although it is helpful to hold Qualified Teacher Status, is it not a requirement when working as a Supply Teacher to have this qualification completed. If you are qualified overseas or have come to teaching from a different path, then we will be able to help. The only requirement is that you have some knowledge of the National Curriculum, have experience in the classroom, and Right to Work in the UK.

Reed will require you to hold an Enhances DBS that is on the Update Service, but if you do not hold this, then Reed can support you in applying for a new one that you can then upload to the service. You will be asked to provide professional references covering the previous two years as well as a character referee and required documentation.
