Adecco are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded South London Borough Council in their recruitment of a Principal Building Surveyor.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be the recognised expert completing building forensics, surveys, reporting, and giving advice to a wide range of facilities including parks, leisure centres, council buildings, residential homes, crematoriums and day centres. You will be working alongside a wide range of professionals from the Council who deliver essential services where no two days are the same. You will be building professional relationships and have the ability to adapt to a diverse client base.

About the role

Project Delivery: From inception to completion, deliver a project on time and to cost.

Report writing: You will need to effectively convey findings from surveys to suppliers and clients.

Building Compliance: You will ensure that all building works are compliant and that regulations are adhered to.

Deliver in competition to the private sector: You will have competition from private sector consultants and fees will need to be extremely competitive.

Customer relationships: Working with adiverse client group across many different services you will need to build relationships across these services and fully understand the needs of the service and their facilities.

Dilapidation surveys: You will need to be able to complete these surveys on behalf of the Council.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • RICS Qualified
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt to a diverse range of clients
  • Excellent understanding of construction regulations and standards
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of services provided
