A well-established and growing manufacturing business are looking for a highly experienced Principal Design Engineer to join them.

As Principal Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end cycle of designing from the ground up using SOLIDWORKS 3D software. You will work closely with the design team, customers, and other internal and external stakeholders in this role giving you great exposure. You will get to see your design projects through the entire process giving you a strong sense of achievement and satisfaction.

Your duties will include:

  • CAD designing mechanical products in SOLIDWORKS 3D, working with other CNC programmes
  • Enabling the production of sheet metal laser-cut components and CNC tube-formed parts
  • Designing and producing bespoke solutions for national and global brands in various sectors
  • Creating 3D models, layouts, and engineering drawings
  • Applying CAD 3D modelling techniques to complex designs
  • Assisting with projects as a key member of the design team, completing all stages of the design process from concept to final production
  • Reviewing bespoke design projects during in-house manufacturing
  • Providing design solutions for projects with guidance from the engineering team
  • Compiling lists of parts, technical documents, and user manuals

Skills and Experience you will have:

  • Minimum of 5years' experience using SOLIDWORKS 3D
  • Experience in manufacturing, ideally steel/sheet metal
  • Extensive experience using CNC programs
  • Demonstrable experience in 3D modelling high spec, functionally sound end-products
  • Ideally have HNC/HND qualification or design/engineering degree

Salary and benefits include:

  • £30,000 to £53,000 depending on experience
