An up-and-coming manufacturing business dedicated to innovation and excellence. This business specialises in producing high-quality products for highly controlled industries such as aerospace, oil and gas, and pressure vessel manufacturing. My client is looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to join the team on an interim basis to lead a strategic review of the plating and coating options.

Your new role
The successful candidate will lead a strategic review of internal and external plating and coating options. They will work closely with the Procurement function to understand available external options for our coating requirements and explore equipment providers for internal coating solutions.
Main Accountabilities:

  • Lead the strategic review of plating / coating options for the business.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement function to identify external coating options and equipment providers for internal coating.
  • Ensure best practices around material and component traceability from supply chain through internal manufacturing processes to the finished product.
  • Develop, optimise, and operate highly automated coating lines utilising the latest chemistry and handling hazardous liquids safely.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the business to determine available plating / coating options and business cases.
  • Develop implementation and industrialisation plans for potential coating supply chain solutions.
  • Support engineering teams in defining equipment and systems to deliver a fully operational, highly automated coating line as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Report regularly on the performance of the area.
  • Work independently and troubleshoot issues as they arise.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science (Chemistry Engineering) or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of automation best practices and the latest technologies in plating complex components.
  • Experience working within a coating facility and with various plating suppliers and plating line manufacturers.
  • Strong and diverse technical background in tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality.
  • The ability to draw on experience to support the design and delivery of the automated coating capability.
  • Strong evaluation and prioritisation skills.
  • The ability to evaluate project risks and define strategies to mitigate them.
  • Logical approach with great attention to detail.
  • Data-driven and methodical.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to positively influence internal stakeholders.
  • Skilled in supplier engagement and escalation.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, highly supportive and collaborative.
  • Professional, proactive, and excited to make positive changes.
  • Takes pride in work and always strives to deliver the best.
  • High-performing and self-motivated individual.


What you'll get in return
£400-£500 per day, outside IR35
3-4 Month Contract, with possible extension
Based in South Yorkshire, expectation to be on site
Flexible & Hybrid working options are available.
