ROLE- Graduate Product Design Engineer

LOCATION- Southampton

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £24,000-£30,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Graduate Product Design Engineer to join their team in Southampton on a permanent basis.

The Graduate Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Product Design, Industrial Design or similar
  • Interested in developing a career in Design Engineering / Product Design
  • A sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering processes and materials
  • Previous work experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial
  • Be proficient using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite etc.
  • Hands-on technical experience through your course
  • Able to work to specific requirements and deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Organised with excellent communication and teamwork skills


TheGraduate Product Design Engineer roles will involve:

  • Using 2D and 3D CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  • Liaising with manufacturing providers
  • Testing and prototype development
  • Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Updating 3D models and drawings
  • Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  • Checking drawings for sign off
  • Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
