Job Title: Production Manager
Location: Pontypool
Salary: £45,000 per annum

Hours: Full time. Monday - Friday days regular

Here at The Recruitment Co, we are currently recruiting a Production Manager to work for a company based in Pontypool on a full time, permanent basis.

This is a full-time on-site role located in Pontypool for a Production Manager.
As a Production Manager, your day-to-day tasks will involve overseeing the
manufacturing process, ensuring production schedules are met, managing a
team of production staff, and implementing quality control measures.
You will work closely with other departments.

Main Job roles:

  • People Management, Day to day line management responsibility of Value Stream Lead and shop
  • floor personnel, this may include performance management meetings
  • To Understand and demonstrate a willingness to promote Equal Opportunities
  • To abide by the Company rules and regulations as laid out in the Company Policies and Procedures
  • Customer Service, Representing the business in a positive and professional manner when greeting visitors in person or whilst on the phone
  • Health and Safety, To ensure safe working practices are observed and the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times
  • Reporting any hazards or incidents to the appropriate Safety representative
  • To maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times
  • Day to day management and allocation of work and duties based on skill levels and time of all shop floor personnel
  • Arrange external training courses for shop floor personnel wishing to cross- train or advance their skills and knowledge
  • Day to day management of Value Stream Leads ensuring tasks are delegated where skills and time allow
  • To ensure all areas of company Health & Safety are adhered too
  • including up to date records Ensure all RIDDOR, LOLER, COSHH etc are kept up to date and company is compliant
  • To ensure all staff have the proper tools and equipment (incl. PPE) to carry out their job safely and securely through risk assessments and workstation assessments
  • To ensure the building and its grounds are safe and free from danger i.e. leaky roof, knotweed, pest control etc
  • Drive forward any shop floor Continuous Improvement and Good
    Housekeeping techniques
  • Assist and implement initiatives on the company's journey to lean.

Required Experience

  • Relevant leadership experience in a production environment minimum of 5 years.
  • ILM level 3 or above in management
  • Problem solving Techniques
  • IOSH or Managing Safely Qualification
  • ECDL (European Computer Driving License) or equivalent level of IT skills
  • Educated to GCE/GCSE or equivalent
  • Supervisory/Management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Be able to read technical drawings and product specification document
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Ability to build a positive working relationship
  • Previous experience of driving HSE on site
  • People Management experience, and knowing how to get the best out of others

Desirable Experience

  • HND in Engineering
  • Level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Internal Auditing qualification
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage several tasks concurrently
