Production Supervisor

Our client is an exciting, rapidly expanding business within the food production industry. Due to extensive growth, we are now looking for a Production Supervisor to join the team.

The successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing the production area ensuring that all steps in the process are completed correctly and on time, whilst also ensuring the quality standards are met at every step along the way. Tasks will also include daily team updates, training and managing your own staff, a direct supervisor to individual workers on the production line.

You’ll need to be a hands on Supervisor, and must also be able to manage the overall flow of stock control and materials through the production process. You will be required to use MS Computer packages in particular MS Excel for projecting batch cooking figures etc.You will be required to communicate with Kitchen staff, Head Chef, Directors and office staff when necessary, ensuring finished products are ready to be shipped out to customers in a timely fashion.

Key activities:

  • Overseeing the daily production process and organised production schedules to ensure that it is running smoothly and efficiently and meeting targets.
  • Overseeing production planning using MS Office and excel in particular in projecting daily batch cooking numbers with Chef.
  • Managing the workflow of employees on the production line by ensuring that work is completed efficiently and effectively. Holding daily team start of day meetings, briefing day ahead & tasks/assigning tasks for staff.
  • Maintaining production line equipment and machinery to prevent malfunctions or breakdowns. Organising repairs promptly when required.
  • Monitoring employee attendance, performance and productivity.
  • Managing employee performance, addressing employee concerns and coaching employees at induction and who need additional training.
  • Managing employees training programs to ensure that all employees are properly trained on the job before they begin to work.
  • Ensure staff are correctly attired in PPE.
  • Scheduling and co-ordinating the activities of workers on the production line.
  • Maintain a tidy and clutter free work area.
  • Overseeing completion of daily records for HACCP/SALSA, ensuring and signing off all paperwork to the correct Food Safety Regulations.
  • Ensure company’s rules and standards are fully enforced including correct tidy up post shift.
  • Ensure all products are handled and stored at correct temperatures and correctly labelled and fully traceable.
  • When required, select, order and purchase materials for production.
  • Determine Quality Control Measures
  • Ensure Health & Safety Regulations are met.
  • To perform any other duties as may be reasonably be required from time-to-time.
  • To perform the job in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, especially the Equal Opportunities and Harassment Policy.
  • Pre-production checks for both Health & Safety and Hygiene

Essential Criteria:

  • 2 Years experience (within past 5 years) in Supervising Food Manufacturing/HACCP/Food Safety
  • Proven Strong Leadership and Team Management experience and qualities
  • Good communications skills (Good standard of English essential)
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Have a methodical and meticulous work aptitude with attention to detail
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines in a very busy food production environment.
