Summary

You’ll assist in the delivery and development of a programme of activities and events. By doing so, you’ll help to create an enjoyable experience for everyone that visits and help them understand more about our place.

Salary: £17,238 per annum/ £12.75 an hour

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 31 December 2025

Hours: An average of 26 hours per week on a two-week rota pattern, including alternate weekends and bank holidays.

Rota A - Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun / Week 2: Wed, Thu, Fri

Rota B – Week 1: Wed, Thu, Fri / Week 2: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun

All shifts 9.30am-4.30pm (6.5 hours per day) 

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the contract.

Interview date: Monday 19th May

Dunham Massey is a 3,000-acre estate with a deer park, house and garden at its centre. It was given to the National Trust in 1976 by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford. Roger’s father was friends with Octavia Hill – one of the founders of the National Trust. Dunham Massey is situated on the border of Greater Manchester and Cheshire and is one of the most visited places in the National Trust with over 800,000 visitors a year.

Dunham Massey is a Treasure House and Children and Young Person Hub. It is a busy and ambitious property with project plans being built over the next 30 years to make it a place for the future, for people and nature.

What you'll be doing

You’ll join the Visitor Experience team and report to the Senior Programming & Partnerships Officer. As a team we lead and support the planning and delivery of programming (events and activities) and interpretation at a busy property. You’ll demonstrate a passion for people, with excellent customer service skills and a high standard of presentation.

Working with the team you'll deliver events and activities that bring our place to life for our visitors all year round. You will be based predominantly in the House to support the daily operations of experiences within this historic building. This will include ORIGIN, a sound and light installation, family trails, tours and talks, and other visitor offers. You may be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of an enthusiastic team of volunteers.

Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. You’ll help link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do. You’ll deliver high standards of presentation on site and ensure all our communications with our visitors around the property is clear and consistent.
