Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join the team.

Salary: c£52,500 per annum

Job Type/Hours: Full-time, permanent

About The Company:

Our client, a local authority based, is seeking a Project Accountant to join them. They are currently undertaking a major capital investment program £250M, focusing on their wellness hub, local community investments, and enhancing overall wellbeing.

Project Accountant– The Role:

The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the council’s capital projects. This role includes maintaining the council’s asset register in compliance with the Accounting Code of Practice and IFRS requirements, preparing and monitoring the capital budget, liaising with services, and providing advice on capital bids and projects.

Additionally, the Project Accountant will develop financial strategies, monitor budgets, and ensure financial compliance and efficiency. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work autonomously on a variety of capital projects, contributing significantly to community investment initiatives.

Project Accountant– Key Responsibilities:

- Developing financial strategies and monitoring budgets for capital projects

- Ensuring financial compliance and efficiency in project management

- Providing detailed financial analysis and reports

- Collaborating with various departments to support financial planning and decision-making

- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and audits

- Overseeing the financial aspects of project funding and grant management

Project Accountant– You:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field

- CCAB/CIMA Qualified

- Familiar with relevant Accounting Standards and legislative requirements

- Experience with IFRS

- Fully qualified accountant

- Ability to work flexibly to meet tight deadlines and deal with conflicting priorities
