Project and Delivery Lead (renewable energy)

We are seeking a Project and Delivery Lead to join a purchasing organisation responsible for public sector energy procurement and energy management services for a number of member councils. You will lead the development of and delivery of strategic renewable asset business cases in support of net zero carbon targets for those councils. Working closely with climate change and sustainability officers plus external partners, the focus will be on larger scale projects rather than onsite / behind the meter smaller schemes. Once business cases are approved, you will lead on the delivery of those projects. Key responsibilities:

• Lead the development of business cases for renewable energy generation projects
• Support Member Authorities by identifying collaboration opportunities that add value.
• Complete feasibility studies to identify suitable sites and technologies for renewable projects
• Collaborate with stakeholders such as landowners, developers, contractors, engineers, consultants, energy suppliers, network operator and community groups.
• Prepare/submit planning applications, permits and contracts to secure approvals and funding.
• Oversee design, installation, commissioning & operation of renewable energy projects.
• Seek funding to support transition to renewable energy sources and infrastructure to the grid.
• Deliver reports to key stakeholder groups, cabinets and committees.

Skills and experience required:

• Degree level or equivalent - desirable engineering or business or environmental sciences.
• 5 Years renewable energy ideally delivering consultancy services in the UK
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong problem-solving, mathematical, financial modelling and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
• Commercial knowledge to capture and analyst market data to identify opportunities.
• Public sector procurement would be helpful.
