As a Project Design Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve the comprehensive coordination and management of multiple projects, ensuring the successful transition from initial customer order requests to final product delivery.
This role will suit someone who has a passion for engineering, a mechanical engineering understanding and an appreciation of manufacturing and LEAN projects.
Project Design Engineer role & responsibilities:
- Working on individual customer requests and assisting with manufacturing design projects.
- Support the design process from concept through to handover.
- Design and calculations of basic production parts.
- Provide manufacturing technical support to all customers internal and external.
- Attend project meetings.
- Review, amend and update design logs.
- Identify standardisation of Designs for Manufacture where viable.
- Review Manufacturing drawings.
- Support R&D projects as required.
- Coordination with the other Engineering teams sharing all project information and progress.
- Support document control and production teams.
- Support quality and testing to ensure build systems and methods are adhered to.
- Experience in both 2D and 3D design.
- AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Have a good understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and materials including Timber, Plastics and Steel.
- An appreciation of DFMA.
- Experience of Lean Manufacturing methodology.
- Problem solving abilities.
- Project management experience.
- A good knowledge of engineering and manufacturing procedures and experience of implementing continuous improvement methods.
- Salary per annum £35,000 to £40,000
- Working hours are 8am-5.00pm with an early finish on Friday
