Our client is looking to recruit an ambitious Project Manager for a full time, permanent role based at their location in West Cumbria on the Energy Coast, where the Lake District Coast and the UK’s foremost Centre of Nuclear Excellence coincide.

The successful Project Manager will act as the client contact and retain overall responsibility for successful delivery of Projects to schedule, quality and budget. This is an opportunity to be involved with unique and challenging project in heavy fabrication and Nuclear Energy.

The ideal candidate will have good practical skills and attention to detail. Previous experience in a Project Management role is essential whilst being able to underpin this with a good mechanical engineering knowledge and practice.

Our client welcomes candidates interested to relocate to West Cumbria. Hybrid working may also be considered.

Project Manager

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as the principal client contact, ensuring clients requirements are correctly interpreted and reflected in deliverables and maintaining a positive working relationship throughout the project duration whilst remaining commercial in any decisions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Assistant Project Managers, Project Planners, Manufacturing and Technical teams and support staff in delivering Projects against schedule, quality, and budget.
  • To be responsible for delivering projects to time, cost, and quality and in accordance with the Business Management Systems.
  • To identify potential risks and opportunities and actively resolve any issues affecting project delivery to time, cost, and quality.
  • Identification of deliverables through the use of Product Breakdown Structures (PBS), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) to enable effective delivery.
  • Ensuring project schedules and costs are regularly reviewed and that effective change control procedures are established and adhered to throughout the project duration.
  • Providing confidence to all stakeholders (including senior management and client) that the Project is in a healthy state.
  • Manage internal and Sub-contractor relationships and take a pro-active approach within the supply chain to expedite to satisfy the technical, programme, safety, and commercial requirements of the project.
  • Ensuring regular effective communication throughout the Project.
  • To contribute to the bid process for multi discipline projects with resource and cost/time estimate information.
  • Proactive client management whilst maintaining a higher / broader thinking.
  • Creation, timely release and/or monitoring of Quality Plans, Bill of Materials for procurement activities and work instructions.

Qualifications:

· APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is essential.

· Chartered Project profession (ChPP) or equivalent is desirable.

· Engineering Degree or Equivalent Practical Mechanical Engineering experience is desirable.

Skills & Experience:

· Project Management background with demonstrable experience and proven success in managing and delivering multi-discipline projects through all phases.

· A working knowledge of project management principles, tools and techniques.

· An appreciation of project management planning, scheduling, estimating, risk identification, management and mitigation processes and their application across multi-disciplined teams.

· Experience in ensuring the adherence to client contracts and specifications.

· Experience in the management of Projects over £10m.

· Experience in a Mechanical Engineering role or a similar technical role.
