A great opportunity has arisen for an Purchasing Assistant to join a dynamic and growing arm of a nationally recognised business.

This company specialising in supplying a wide range of products to both B2B and B2C customers.

They are now looking for someone with some buying or purchasing administration experience to work alongside a buyer and support with their day to day duties.

This position is based out of their distribution centre in Birmingham on the outskirts of city centre with parking available.

What’s on offer?

Salary = £27,500 per annum

23 days holiday + 8 bank holidays

Hybrid working  - 3 days a week in the office

Duties include:

  • Develop relationships with new & existing suppliers & organisations, maximising commercial opportunities
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to deliver on-going savings of goods for resale (GFR)
  • Negotiate best value for the business in terms of growth bonus achievement
  • Identify and suggest new product opportunities, maintaining quality & market position
  • Liaise with our Head of Pricing to improve market competitiveness, whilst protecting margin
  • Collaborate with Category and Supply Chain Teams throughout the process, maximising availability & effective supply
  • Improve first time availability & on-time supply, ensure delays are communicated
  • Understand competitor activity, analysing and suggesting the commercial plan
  • Ensure the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & threats of each supplier are clearly understood
  • React to quality issues & develop strategies to reduce costs
  • General administration duties, including the maintenance of supplier contact details

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Will have at least 9 months of buying support or purchasing support experience
  • Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets
  • Computer literate
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Committed
  • Organised
  • Highly motivated / Proactive
