QAD Practice Reviewers

Home based with Regional Travel

Current regions sought: Audit - London, Birmingham, Manchester

£86,100 + £6,000 car allowance

We're always keen to hear from Senior Managers in practice interested in joining our QAD team.

Our QAD reviewer role is a senior chartered accountant position within ICAEW, working as part of a team of individuals dedicated to upholding quality and working to high standards.

The core part of the role involves visiting ICAEW member firms. These are scheduled in advance by our support team, so that reviewers can spend most of their time out with our firms, carrying out audit and other regulatory visits.

A typical audit visit includes the review of individual audits, understanding the firm's approach, assessing the adequacy of audit evidence and discussing the overall quality of the audit with audit teams and senior firm management. We also conduct monitoring reviews in other areas, including Practice Assurance and DPB (Investment Business). Our reviewers see the visit through from start to finish and they are empowered to conclude visits with no action, or they may need to recommend further action, for example re-training, close ongoing support or disciplinary action.

Our reviewers are based at home. We build time at home into a reviewer's schedule for them to plan upcoming visits and to conclude recent visits. There is no expectation or requirement to go into an office when not performing on-site visits. Our reviewers have control over the completion of their visits without the hassle of relying on anyone else and no-surprises from unexpected client deadlines. So, if you like the idea of task-driven project work, and are motivated by getting the job done, this could be the role for you.

With our culture driven by consultation and collaboration, there is always help on hand, and a key part of the role of our management team is to be available for reviewers during their visits to assist with any technical or other issues. Our induction training programme is second to none, designed to convert current practice staff into reviewers, teach any unfamiliar areas (eg, Practice Assurance) and to give new reviewers the confidence to carry out visits on their own through shadowing other reviewers and continued support from the rest of the team.

Our reviewers most value the variety offered by the role. From working with the most senior partners in the largest firms through to sole practitioners, no day is the same. On top of this, our team is involved in delivering work under third party contracts, both in the UK and overseas, as well as other ad-hoc project work.
