Quality Inspector - 4 day week

My client is a market leading and dynamic gear manufacturer and supplier. They are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in process production and finished products. The ideal candidate will have experience in a machining environment which operates CNC and manual machining. Knowledge of QMS ISO9001 and the ability to use a CMM would be of benefit but not essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and measuring precision parts.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving day to day production issues with shop floor.
  • Recording quality results, raining dispatch documents such as Certificates of Conformance, PPAPs (production part approval process) and/or ISIRs (initial sample inspection report).

Qualifications and Experience

  • You must have previous experience in a manufacturing machine shop environment, inspecting parts made through CNC machining, manual turning, grinding using precision measuring equipment, such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges.
  • Able to read manufacturing drawings with an understanding of GD&T symbols and of quality control techniques and equipment.
  • Experience in QMS ISO9001 and able to create and document procedures and internal audit of benefit but not essential.
  • Knowledge of CMM (computerised measuring machine) of benefit but not essential.
  • Able to work with Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook)

My client has many years of experience in manufacturing gears and other transmission products dating back to 1851. A proud moment in the company’s history was the support given to Malcolm Campbell’s Blue Bird in 1927 at Pendine Sands in Wales. It set the land speed record, travelling at 174.88 mph, and was fitted with transmission products manufactured by this client.

Working Hours

  • 38 hours
  • Monday to Thursday 7 am to 5 pm with 30 mins lunch
  • No work on Friday
