Quarry Operative

Hours of work: 47.5 hours a week, working 9.5 hours a day: Monday to Friday 7:00am - 5:15pm

What you’ll be doing:

As a Quarry Operative you will be responsible for operating an Excavator to select pit grade clay from our quarries in Dorset, ensuring all equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner.

In addtion, you’ll:

• Carry out equipment safety checks at the beginning of each shift
• Ensure that excavation and tipping areas are well maintained following local site rules
• Maintain quarry haul roads
• Be operating the equipment at maximum productivity and minimum waiting time
• Maintain site drainage to prevent pooling of water, and divert water to the quarry slump
• Work closely with local site supervisors to deal with any issues as they arise
• Keep in close contact with the team using the in-cab radio

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who has preferably worked within a Quarry or Agricultural environment, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience of operating an Excavator.

In addition, you’ll have

• You must be able to legally drive in the UK
• Hold a recognised industry standard proof of competence for operating an excavator; CITB, CPCS, RTITB, or equivalent
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Applicants must hold the right to work in the UK
