Job Title: R&D Scientist

Location: Slough

Contract: 12 months

Pay rate: £14.54 - £17.96

Cpl Life Sciences are partnered with a globally leading CDMO to source for an R&D scientist to join their team at the Slough site. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge bioprocess development in a collaborative R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and maintain lab-scale bioreactors for mammalian cell culture.

• Monitor and control key bioprocess parameters to ensure optimal conditions for cell growth, viability, and productivity.

• Collaborate closely with the upstream R&D team to design, plan, and execute complex, bioreactor experiments for process development and optimisation.

• Perform routine mammalian cell culture tasks including media preparation, cell revival, passaging, and maintenance.

• Collect, analyse, and document experimental data accurately; assist in generating scientific reports and technical documentation.

• Support laboratory safety initiatives and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and protocols.

• Carry out general laboratory duties such as inventory management, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace.

• Perform additional lab-related tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior experience in biotechnology, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment.

• Solid understanding of mammalian cell culture principles and upstream process development.

• Hands-on experience with CHO cell culture, including thawing, subculturing, and media preparation.

• Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting lab-scale bioreactors.

• Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
