About the Role

Connect2Hampshire are currently recruiting for a Registered Manager to work in one of Hampshire County Councils Children's Home based in Romsey, Hampshire.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the creation of a team and the development of a service at Hockley House; a ground-breaking new Children's Home and the first of its kind in the county.

Hockley House is a new Ofsted regulated Children's Home comprised of three self-contained flats with a communal space due to opening in 2024. Innovative in its purpose and approach, Hockley House will meet the complex needs of an identified cohort of children and young people who have significant mental health and behavioural needs which do not meet the criteria for detention and treatment in hospital or the threshold for secure accommodation but require a high level of support

What is the day-to-day of the role:

  • As Registered Manager, you will receive support from a Deputy Manager who is a qualified clinician, alongside an extensive team of supervisors and care staff. Together, you will collaborate with external services to provide comprehensive care for each child who will reside at the home, ordinarily for a period of up to nine months. The Hampshire Children's Services Directorate is experienced in running residential and secure children's homes and you will sit within this well-established management group to share expertise and knowledge.
  • The Registered Manager will be responsible for line managing and leading a team that will comprise of residential and health staff and will need to ensure that the service is integrated and avoids admissions to secure accommodation and tier 4 hospital beds
  • To lead and manage a specialist Registered Children's Home (Hockley House) providing multi-disciplinary support and care to a specific cohort of children and young people.
  • To ensure delivery of the service is driven by organisational and departmental strategy, in partnership with other agencies.
  • Effectively manage the resources, including HCC and health staff, involved in the development of strategies and delivery of services to users, ensuring efficient and effective deployment to agreed performance targets.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in a related field (such as mental health, social work, management).
  • Extensive experience management experience gained in a position relevant to the residential care of vulnerable children.
  • Experience of managing regulated services subject to inspection and external judgement.
  • Experience of managing or working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to build teams and to be a team player - and a predisposition to avoid 'silo working.
  • Skilled at undertaking risk assessments at both an individual and service level.
  • Skilled at developing plans to successfully develop and enhance services.
  • Experience of managing a large budget.
  • Ability to negotiate and work constructively with partners.

Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent.
  • Previously Registered as a Manager with Ofsted or the CQC.
  • Experience of working with OFSTED or CQC.
