Children's Residential Registered Manager

Location: Wolverhampton

Salary: Starting from £50,000 per annum (OTE £70,000) + OFSTED bonuses

Essential skills for the role

  • NVQ Level 5 Caring for Children and Young people
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the role of a residential care setting
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Manager
  • Must have a GOOD overall OFSTED report
  • Over 21 years of age
  • Full driving license

The Role

  • To ensure that the Home meets the standards and expectations of its Statement of Purpose.
  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to ensure that the quality of care provided is consistent with the Children Homes Regulations and the Quality Standards.
  • To establish and maintain a competent, motivated and confident staff team and to offer leadership, managerial direction, guidance and support to staff at all levels.
  • To ensure that the home’s policies and procedures are adhered to and that resources are managed effectively.
  • To develop systems for the efficient administration of the Home and to ensure that the fabric of the Home, equipment, appliances and grounds are maintained to the highest order in accordance with Health and Safety requirements.
  • To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
  • To liaise with Local Authorities, School, Health and other professionals to achieve best outcomes for young people.
  • To actively promote the Home’s equal opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice policies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively lead the home and the team.
  • Ability to ensure the child develops in a caring and consistent environment.
  • Able to react calmly in stressful situations.
  • Able to respond flexibly and quickly to changing demands and priorities.
  • To be able to demonstrate an ability to 'cope’ with emotionally challenging situations and to act appropriately under pressure.
  • Able to work within a team and on own initiative.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • To have basic computer skills.
  • Domestic housekeeping skills.
  • Awareness of Equal Opportunities and Anti- discriminatory practice
  • Understanding of children’s rights, advocacy and representation.
  • Basic understanding of the principle of childcare legislation.
