Bury Council are seeking a Building Surveyor to join their Housing Repairs department. This role involves comprehensive in-house technical surveying and inspection across a range of council homes and public buildings. The successful candidate will ensure that our housing stock and public buildings are maintained to a high standard, providing both technical support and project planning insights to facilitate efficient service delivery.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Conduct pre-inspection, during works inspection, post-inspection, and quality control checks for various building works including general repairs, planned repairs, and investment programmes.
  • Undertake property building surveys, identify potential defects, and specify necessary remedial actions in accordance with relevant standards and policies.
  • Prepare specifications for remedial works for both domestic homes and public buildings.
  • Monitor site safety processes, method statements, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Collaborate with contractors, organizing and coordinating works, ensuring all necessary information is provided.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • RICS accredited degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in surveying domestic properties and diagnosing faults, experience working within social housing essential.
  • Demonstrable experience and expertise in surveying public buildings and contractor management.
