We're partnering with a leading institution dedicated to groundbreaking research in health to find an experienced individual to join the team as a Research Finance Business Partner on a fixed-term basis.


As a Research Finance Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting research initiatives by providing financial guidance, strategic insights, and analytical support. You will collaborate closely with researchers, faculty members, and administrative staff to ensure the effective management of research funding, optimise resource allocation, and drive financial performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as partner to research teams, offering expertise on budget planning, grant management, and financial compliance.
  • Work closely with research groups to develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and institutional policies.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making, resource allocation, and grant proposal development.
  • Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, offering insights to mitigate risks and optimise resource utilisation.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including finance, research administration, and external funding agencies, to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and systems tailored to the needs of the research institute.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to research finance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

You will:

  • Be a part qualified/qualified accountant or equivalent in experience.
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience in financial management, budgeting, or grant administration, within a research or academic environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and grant accounting practices.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, proven track record of building collaborative relationships and influencing stakeholders and exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have proficiency in financial software and tools, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with research administration systems is a plus.
  • Be available at reasonably short notice
