Retail Assistant - Heritage/Visitor shop - Part-time, Permanent (4-days out of 7) - Central SW London - £20,391 + excellent benefits

This heritage site, with vast gardens and historic buildings is opening a new visitor centre for visitors who will have access to the new shop, museum, cafe, etc, as well as enjoying guided tours and able to admire the history and architecture, as well as learn more about some of the retired residents living in the grounds and enjoy the gardens and vast grounds. The purpose of this role is to support the day to day running of the shop, encompassing driving high levels of customer service, sales and visual merchandising.

SALARY ETC:

  • This is a permanent part-time role, working 4 days out of 7-day, on a rota basis, working out at 30-hours a week and includes breaks. Hours will increase to 5 days a week, when holiday and sickness cover is required.
  • The role will require regular weekend and some evening working (time off in lieu will be given for the shop opening outside of regular working hours).
  • The shop will be open 9am to 5pm 7 days a week.
  • It is located in the central SW London area.
  • £20,391 per annum (for 30-hours, including breaks)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have full rights to work in the UK (sorry but not able to consider people on highly skilled visas, or needing sponsorship, or student visas)
  • Ideally you will have experience of working within the heritage or museum sector, or other visitor attractions, however other experience in similar outlets will also be considered and welcomed.
  • Experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills is essential
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with fluent English.
  • Good level of numeracy

  • Approachable and friendly personality
  • Excellent personal presentation and a professional attitude

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service
  • Keep up to date with product information
  • Manage point-of-sale processes
  • Support the management of team rotas, including those of volunteers
  • Ensure the shop is sufficiently stocked at all times and visual merchandising and housekeeping standards are adhered to.
  • Support the receiving and storage of deliveries.
  • Support the fulfilment of online sales.
  • Assist with 'Pop Up’ shop opportunities across the site during Events and at Outreach events.
  • Participate in stocktakes when required.
  • Ensure the shop is run safely and Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Please note, this role will involve lifting and manoeuvring stock
  • Provide cover for the Post Office Supervisor through operating the Post Office automated system, for which training will be provided, and selling to, and advising customers on Post Office products.
