Job Description

We're recruiting for a Retail Portfolio Financial Analyst to join our Retail function in Hove or London.

The role encompasses all accounting and financial planning activities within the Retail Change Portfolios. It involves analyzing financial data, ensuring the effective operation of financial controls, and preparing reports. Additionally, it provides forward-looking, accurate information for executive decision-making and works collaboratively with project and scrum teams to oversee finances and enhance financial management maturity. What you'll be doing:
  • Responsible for the Retail Change Portfolio expenses and day rate management, including month end processing of fixed assets, VAT, journals, prepayments and accruals ensuring compliance with Group Accounting Policies to produce accurate and reliable financial records
  • Track and report the monthly expenditures for Cash, Profit & Loss, Exceptional items, Business Cases, and Day Rate Targets. Identify any deviations from the Targets and suggest appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of the monthly Retail Portfolio Financials, with an appropriate level of forecasting of costs to produce accurate forward messaging with options for effective Executive reprioritisation.
  • Manage the Change Portfolio Expense and Day Rates in Retail through monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles, and suggest options to meet targets.
  • Define and produce analysis to demonstrate how we are tracking to the overall expense and day rate targets, highlighting where and why spend is not tracking to expectations or is not in line with business case / overall targets to assist managers and Executive members understand financial perspectives, enabling a proactive and innovative role in achieving the financial expense targets.
  • When working closely with cross-functional teams, it's crucial to collaborate and adapt, ensuring transparency and shared accountability. Be prepared to quickly adjust to changing circumstances and update financial plans as necessary.
  • Ensure monthly financial data is timely, accurate and complete, audit trails are available and maintained, and financial accounting complies with financial standard and L&G policies.
Qualifications

Who we're looking for:
  • Trainee Accountant or Time Qualified Accountant
  • Financial Services background, specifically in Life and Pensions insurance.
  • Project costing, allocation, and cross-charging methodologies.
  • Accounting and Forecasting, using Anaplan, Oracle Financials(GFAS), Excel, PowerBi, Keyedin, JIRA.
  • Accounting and forecasting of expenses, balance sheet reconciliations and implementing controls.
  • Communicating with and influencing executives to ensure decision making is rationale and supported by data analysis.
