Seven Resourcing are looking for a Reviews & Appeals Officer to work with havering council. This is a full-time position, and we are paying £23.98 (Paye) and £29.94 (Umbrella) per hour for this role.

The role:

To understand the challenges and complexities around homelessness today, the impact that homelessness has on families and single people and have a commitment to addressing housing issues and reducing homelessness.

To receive representations that serve to challenge decisions made in relation to the homeless applications in accordance with the Council's duty under the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and carry out an independent review of such decisions, producing a written adjudication on that substantive challenge that serves to consider and supply the full reason for the review decision.

To conduct reviews of suitability of accommodation provided or offered to homeless households in accordance with the Council's statutory duties under Homeless Reduction Act, decisions on homelessness applications.

Key Responsibilities:

­­­­­ To produce independent decisions relating to reviews registered under the relevant section of the Homeless Reduction Act, challenging the suitability of accommodation provided in accordance with the Council's statutory duties to homeless applicants.

To produce independent decisions relating to appeals against housing register application decisions including fixed term tenancy review appeals, introductory tenancies and appeals on mandatory possessions for ASB in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation and Tenancy Policies.

To determine whether discretion to accommodate pending review should be utilised and whether any late request for review should be accepted.

To keep abreast of changes to homelessness and related legislation, the Code of Guidance, statutory instruments, case law and other best practice to ensure that the service operates efficiently and effectively.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications: 

      GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths.

Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience

Experience:  2+ years working within a similar role. 

Compliance:  Current Standard DBS check. 

Travel:  Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours:  37 hours p/w.
