We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Risk & Compliance Officer with a strong background in mortgages and the mortgage advice process. The ideal candidate will be CeMAP qualified and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within the compliance team. The position is offered on a hybrid basis, allowing for both home and office working. Experience with second charge mortgages is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with mortgage products and services.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all mortgage-related activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Call Audits: Score calls against a set criteria and maintain records of the audits.
  • Feedback Communication: Provide feedback to advisers and line managers, ensuring the feedback is constructive and clear.
  • Correct Advice Assurance: Ensure that clients have been given the correct advice during their interactions.
  • Documentation Review: Oversee the preparation and review of compliance documentation for mortgage products.
  • Policy Development: Develop and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations.
  • Audit Support: Assist in preparing for and responding to internal and external audits.
  • Training: Provide compliance training to staff, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities and the latest regulatory requirements.
  • Complaint Handling: Investigate and resolve complaints related to mortgage advice and services.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on compliance status, risks, and issues for senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CeMAP Qualification: Essential for understanding the mortgage advice process and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience: Significant experience in the mortgage industry, particularly with second charge mortgages.
