We are seeking an experienced SC cleared Backup Support Engineer to join our team , which is seeing a significant increase in project work. This inside IR35 initial 6 month contract role requires a professional with a strong background in server and virtual payload backups, and an understanding of backup and restore technologies.Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide 2nd to 3rd line support for server and virtual payload backups.
  • Ensure effective backup and restore operations using various technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to solve problems.
  • Manage personal workload proactively and with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Adhere to ITIL Service Management framework, focusing on incident and change management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in supporting backups of servers and virtual payloads.
  • Good knowledge of backup and restore technologies.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving ability.
  • Proactive approach to workload management.
  • Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with backup software and storage appliances, ideally Veritas NetBackup and HP.
  • Experience with backups in a VMWare environment.
  • General knowledge of supporting backups on various server operating systems – Windows, Linux (RHEL & SLES), AIX, and Solaris.
Additional Requirements:
  • Local SC clearance required.
  • Able to work on-site in Telford every Wednesday.
  • Available to work Mon – Fri, 7.4 hours a day between 8 am and 6 pm.
