School Caretaker in Bedford

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a School Caretaker to join a welcoming school community in Bedford, Bedfordshire. This role offers the chance to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students and staff.

Position Details:
  • Role: School Caretaker
  • Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
  • Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
  • Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible
  • Contract Type: Full-time, permanent

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs across the school premises to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Cleaning and Upkeep: Oversee cleaning operations, ensuring that classrooms, offices, and communal areas are kept clean and hygienic.
  • Health and Safety: Conduct regular health and safety checks, identifying and addressing potential hazards to maintain a secure environment.
  • Groundskeeping: Maintain the school grounds, including gardening, waste management, and general upkeep of outdoor areas.
  • Security: Ensure the school premises are secure, including opening and locking up, monitoring access, and responding to security issues.
  • Event Support: Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment for school events and activities.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience in a caretaking or facilities management role is desirable but not essential.
  • Skills: Basic maintenance and repair skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and good organizational abilities.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment and performing outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Reliability: Strong sense of responsibility and reliability, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
